The first topic: "How information technology can improve forest management for people and nature?" is going to be presented by Mr. Alexander Watson, who has a background in forestry science and has worked in reforestation projects in Latin America and Southeast Asia. In 2011, together with two partners, he founded OpenForests, an organisation which is specialized in applied forest information management. Their work covers drone based mappings, remote sensing and web & field application development for sustainable forestry and conservation projects.

The second speaker is Mr. Christoph Euringer, who is going to talk about world paper markets up to 2030. He is a Senior Consultant at Pöyry Management Consulting. He has been working as a management consultant for pulp and paper and other forest-based or related industries. His focus is on strategic advisory and due diligence assessments. Scope of his studies has varied from local, single country raw material sourcing to global end market analysis. Mr. Euringer is a TUM Alumni as he holds a M.Sc. degree from TUM in Forest and Wood Science.

SRM Talks is an initiative from a group of students of the graduate program Sustainable Resource Management. The purpose of SRM Talks is to organize monthly talks under the motto “SRM talks challenges of the future”. The topics of interest for these talks gravitate around environmental issues and sustainable solutions such as nature conservation, green finance, renewable energy, waste management, etc.
